Speechless

when you look at this book there are possibly many different covers you may see and its hard to tell which one sits perfectly for it but that really doesn't matter for the book what matters is the devastating story it tells. my heart broke again and again for this book as hannah harrington explored all the concepts of being a silent one.

The Blurb:
Until now. Because the last secret she shared turned her into a social outcast—and nearly got someone killed.

Now Chelsea has taken a vow of silence—to learn to keep her mouth shut, and to stop hurting anyone else. And if she thinks keeping secrets is hard, not speaking up when she's ignored, ridiculed and even attacked is worse.

But there's strength in silence, and in the new friends who are, shockingly, coming her way—people she never noticed before; a boy she might even fall for. If only her new friends can forgive what she's done. If only she can forgive herself.

The Trailer:

Pros:

  • original: very different very unique
  • is aware of social problems and stands up to them
  • has great characters and imagery senses and it was believable all characters were not perfect
  • the use of emotions through out this book is pretty incredible
  • i said original before but this is the original characters i have never met another person like Asha or Noah they were so different and very inspiring
Cons:
  • the plot of this book is that she goes through hell and on the book she says to her ex friend bring it on and really only very small minor set ups were performed in that supposed "hell week"
First Line:
Keeping secrets isn't my specialty.

Last Line:
and i dont have to say a word.

Favourite Quote:
"Hate is Easy, Love takes Courage" its one of noahs first/last words to chelsea

My Thoughts:
okay so Chelsea Knott the main character was an absolute bitter side kick to the queen bee and was continually telling Kristen (queen bee) what she saw/heard, you sought of have to have a dislike to Chelsea as you watch her through some of the first scenes and how she reacts to finding out knowledge but as Noah is hospitalized early on she takes a vow of silence after telling her parents what happened. this silence from the outside just looks like a cover up so she doesn't get in any more trouble so to speak by talking after being dropped by Kristen and having the whole school hate her, but on the inside you see that its a vow thats going to bring something out of this. now in this story she doesn't talk most of the way through it but there are parts where you go "OMG SHE'S GOING TO BREAK THE VOW" and you wait and wait and it just doesn't happen she goes through quite a lot of mental abuse from everyone except for a few. those particular few are probably being the ones that should be hating her, Sam and Asha (noah's friends) but its like harmony for Chelsea as they grow closer in detention with Asha and in art class with Sam  she even begins to fall for Sam over her delirious crush Brandon which is totally sweet! Asha is always one of those people that have to see the good in people before/if they realize the bad. when Chelsea does break the vow its to stand u for someone else being picked on because what she has caused at the school. its totally incredible and by then you know you have to love this character even after all the bad things she's done.  Chelsea is an amazingly true character to the real world and watching/reading about her development is incredible because its like you are that person doing that stuff and having that courageous journey.

Overall Score: its definitely 4.9!!
great work fantastic story definitely worth the read!
